Dirtbag Glory
First video edit...shot with iPhones and plenty of beer. We had a blast tromping around this little gem of a spring creek. Next outing we plan on giving the mice a try on this little stream after hours.
My name is Weston Thier and this is a blog that details my outdoor pursuits, including (but not limited to): catching trout, film photography, craft beer, bird hunting, black coffee, creative writing, fly tying, and adventurous spirit.

Wulffs by Lee
These two vintage Wulffs were tied by the creator himself. They were given to me the summer before I went to college as a gift by my good friend and fly fishing mentor Brad Bohen. I remember him saying, as I opened the small cardboard box that they were in, "You'll always have these in your back pocket now, for when you need a little lift. Not every fly fisherman can say that."
I was one of many generous gifts, both material and otherwise, that Brad has given me throughout the years.
My plan is to get a fancy little display case to house them in now.

May 2012
It was a goal of mine to take this girl for a canoe trip down a famous trout stream to give her a glimpse into my world. Unfortunately, after a long trek north from Eau Claire, our trip got cut short by three days of constant thunderstorms.
What does one do when it rains? Find the best coffee shop (or bar) in town and drink your ill will away, and that's exactly what we did. And lucky for me, Rach is easy to please.
Perusing my DeLorme Atlas and Gazeteer paid off on this fine day for my friend Nate Wick and I.

The brother/sister duo of Nate and Audra Wick spent the weekend with me touring the Bayfield area this past weekend. It was great being able to show new friends a couple of my favorite childhood trout haunts.
The photo on the left shows our tentless campsite on Lake Superior for the two nights that they visited. We fished hard, and after a round of KBC Widowmakers and some bourbon, this beach made for a fine place to rest our heads.

Spring Break
A warm, early spring has allowed ample opportunities for a trout junkie like myself to get his fix. The season started with a spring break trip out to Northern Colorado in with my longtime pal Nate Thomas and his roommate Joe "Jereth" Renik. Our plan was to put a trip together that would serve as an alternative to the traditional tropical college spring break. So from March 16-24th, instead of getting blasted on the beach and yelling at women, we decided to share our beers under the Rocky Mountain skies.
The following photos offer a snapshot of our week-long venture...
