May 2012

I was getting pretty antsy around the time that school let out, but things are looking up since I picked up this little go-getter on May 21st. She's been great so far...cheers to the next 100,000!

It was a goal of mine to take this girl for a canoe trip down a famous trout stream to give her a glimpse into my world. Unfortunately, after a long trek north from Eau Claire, our trip got cut short by three days of constant thunderstorms.

What does one do when it rains? Find the best coffee shop (or bar) in town and drink your ill will away, and that's exactly what we did. And lucky for me, Rach is easy to please.

Perusing my DeLorme Atlas and Gazeteer paid off on this fine day for my friend Nate Wick and I.

Nate hooked up with a Western Wisconsin brown.

The brother/sister duo of Nate and Audra Wick spent the weekend with me touring the Bayfield area this past weekend. It was great being able to show new friends a couple of my favorite childhood trout haunts.

The photo on the left shows our tentless campsite on Lake Superior for the two nights that they visited. We fished hard, and after a round of KBC Widowmakers and some bourbon, this beach made for a fine place to rest our heads.
